There is a proverb that meat, a dark sauce and some potatoes make German meal. That’s why Germany is considered to be a high-potato-consumption country. Every region of Germany is known for its specialty. In the Rhineland Sauerbraten is famous. Northern Germany can boast Labskaus, which is a mixture of corned beef, potatoes, pickled herring, red beets and onions.
Beer remains the national drink of Germany. German beer is well known all over the world. Beer law is the oldest in the country. Wine production is another prosperous industry of Germany. Among German white wines we should name Silvaner and Mueller-Thurgau. As for red wines Dornfelder and Spaetburgunder are worth trying.
